Your Bluebird Care Galway Team
Welcome to Bluebird Galway's Meet the Team section, where we proudly showcase the heart and soul behind our exceptional home care service across Galway. Here, you’ll discover the faces and stories of the dedicated local professionals who support families throughout our community. Their compassion, commitment, and connection to the area is what makes our care truly personal.

Carolyn Corless - General Manager
Carolyn is from Galway City and has been part of Bluebird Care since October 2008, when the company was still in its early days. Over the years, she has worked across every part of the organisation, giving her a deep understanding of home care, the people we support, and the teams who deliver it. Now general manager for Galway, Carolyn leads a large local team and helps make sure our customers receive safe, reliable care and support at home. She is known for her approachable style, strong leadership, and focus on the people at the heart of Bluebird Care. Carolyn says: “Bluebird Care is like a second family to me. I’m proud to lead a team that truly cares for the people of Galway.”

Sean Lyons - Managing Director
Before joining Bluebird Care, Sean spent 22 years with Telecom Éireann and Eircom, working his way from installer to operations manager. He later joined the Health Service Executive, where his work in database management gave him valuable insight into the healthcare sector. In October 2008, Sean and Eileen opened the first franchised Bluebird Care office in the Republic of Ireland. Since then, Sean has helped build Bluebird Care Galway into a trusted local care service, now supporting over 400 customers across Galway City and County. Working alongside general manager Carolyn Corless and a team of more than 100 colleagues, Sean is proud to have built a caring and supportive service for customers, families and staff. Sean says: “Since starting our home care journey in 2008, Bluebird Care has become a huge part of our lives. I’m proud of the people around us, and of the care we provide to so many families across Galway.”

Martina Molloy – Office Manager
Martina joined Bluebird Care Galway in September 2012 as a healthcare assistant in the community. After gaining hands-on experience, she moved into the office team as a care coordinator and now works as office manager. Her first experience of home care was when her grandmother, Annie, received support at home. Martina saw how much Annie looked forward to her healthcare assistant’s visits — not only for care, but for the friendly face and conversation they brought to her day. That experience inspired Martina to choose a career in care. Her time as a healthcare assistant also gives her a strong understanding of what customers and care teams need. Martina says: “It is a privilege to be invited into our customers’ lives and help them stay independent at home. Every day is different, and I honestly can’t imagine doing anything better.” In 2022, Martina was named Scheduler of the Year at the HCCI Homecare Awards, recognising her care, professionalism and commitment to supporting others.

Annmarie Finegan – Care Supervisor
Annmarie is care supervisor for Bluebird Care Galway. She supports customers and guides care professionals to deliver safe, reliable care at home. She joined Bluebird Care in 2010 as a healthcare assistant and spent eight years supporting customers in the community. During that time, she became a mentor to colleagues, sharing her experience and helping them feel confident in their roles. Annmarie is also a qualified emergency medical technician and has worked with a private ambulance service in Dublin. This experience gives her a strong understanding of care, safety and support. Annmarie says: “I really enjoy my role as care supervisor. I love meeting new customers and seeing them grow in confidence as they get to know their care professionals. I’m also proud to support colleagues, especially those who are new to care. Because I started as a healthcare assistant, I understand the role and the people we care for.” She adds: “Bluebird Care feels like family to me. I’m proud to play my part in supporting people across Galway.”

Katherine McGinty - Clinical Lead
Katherine joined Bluebird Care Galway in 2020 as clinical lead, bringing many years of nursing experience and a strong passion for supporting older people. She is a registered general nurse and holds a B.Sc. in Community Nursing with a specialist practitioner qualification. Katherine began her nursing career in London, working on acute wards for older people, before moving into community nursing. She later worked as a continence nurse specialist and then as director of nursing in the nursing home sector, where she helped improve care standards and support residents safely. At Bluebird Care, Katherine is proud to help older people and those with complex needs stay well, independent and supported at home. Katherine says: “It is a privilege to be part of the team at Bluebird Care. I have always loved working with older people, and this role allows me to support them to live well at home.” Outside work, Katherine enjoys GAA, soccer, musicals, reading and spending time with her family.

Rachel Barrett – Care Coordinator
Rachel Barrett joined Bluebird Care Galway in 2011 as a healthcare assistant. Since then, she has grown within the team and now works as a care coordinator in the Galway City office. Rachel says Bluebird Care has supported her through different stages of life, helping her balance personal and work commitments along the way. Known for her warmth, humour and positive energy, Rachel describes herself as a “very colourful carer”. It’s a phrase that says a lot about the joy she brings to customers and colleagues. Rachel says: “I really enjoy the daily challenges my role brings. It pushes me to grow and makes every day interesting and rewarding.” She adds: “I’ve found a really good work-life balance here at Bluebird Care, and I genuinely love working alongside such fantastic colleagues every day.”
